Jupiter in Leo
Jupiter, planet of expansion, travel, and education, enters Leo on October 31st 2026 to January 27th 2027, for a temporary shift in its exalted stay in Cancer since June 1st. Jupiter in Leo for this 'preview' window is in the sign of its friend the Sun, where it expresses itself flamboyantly, and sees you making a big gesture. If an opportunity has surfaced over the last several months, in love or business, now is the time take the initiative and inject authority and certainty. Be mindful of over-expansion, however, where Jupiter’s bombastic tendencies can see a make-or-break moment. Your pride swells, and you may be more interested in outward show than actual substance. This is Jupiter's first stay in leo since mid-2015, and features of its 12-year orbit may become evident this time around.

Jupiter is conjunct shadowy Ketu, planet of liberation, in Leo up to December 5th. This is a spiritual combination for both academic study and direct experience, where you are an outstanding student and have your own unique insight. Your attention may shift to an unorthodox belief system, or you have a crisis of confidence in your regular path that moves you towards inner seeking. There is a balance to strike between outward show and inner self-worth, and it may also be time to simplify your beliefs, shed dogma, and to focus on spiritual growth rather than material security. Deep experience comes through meditation, and you can expect a moment that requires a lot of processing to fully understand. You may also encounter a powerful and-or-unusual teacher who brings the best out of you, but also demands a lot of psychic energy.
Jupiter and Ketu are joined by dynamic Mars in Leo from November 12th, which accents a fiery, action-oriented quality, and sees you breaking new ground on all fronts. Mars, itself in a friendly sign, has a confidence and assertiveness that sees you reaching for what you want and expressing yourself in style. This is a fiery, outward, ‘pitta’ combination, where your extrovert style adds a spark to any project, and you like to be noticed. Invest in your creativity and special skills, and you are an inspiration to people around you. You may also champion somebody else’s efforts in a generous and protective attitude.
Jupiter-Mars is auspicious for many purposes, but may give you almost too much confidence, to the point of an overstep or premature move. Be careful of a cavalier approach at work, especially when you are attempting something new or operating in a different environment. Your self-assurance carries you through, but you are also subject to burnout and impulsive behaviour that can be self-defeating. Your interaction with a teacher or guide may also become volatile, with an underlying competitive quality that can get in the way of your studies. Mars’s own lengthy retrograde motion starts from January 11th, where a project takes longer to complete, and frustration arises in this fiery sign. You want an immediate result, but have to reconsider your plans and perhaps take an unorthodox or roundabout route. Avoid creating drama or trouble as a substitute for positive feedback, and find your own place in the spotlight.
Magha’s Shakti ‘The Power to Leave the Body’ brings out a more esoteric quality to this triple-combination, where you may be meditating or planning a pilgrimage experience. Ketu can detach you from personal connections, which seem superficial and unnecessary, and you become preoccupied with otherworldly interests or perhaps a faraway place of pilgrimage. Especially when paired with Mars, you should be careful of an overly-impulsive attitude, where anger can arise apparently from nowhere, and you easily become frustrated with close partners and mundane affairs in your work and business. You are easily distracted when trying to focus on matters of small detail, and should be mindful of any accident-prone tendencies if your energy is displaced. Look before you leap, especially when travelling, driving, or exercising hard. Your spiritual understanding takes a step forward, however, and you suddenly comprehend a complex or mysterious subject that has been obscure or hard to understand up to now.
This whole transit remains in Magha Pada One which equates to Aries navamsha, the sub-chart of relationship and spirituality, where you have even greater underlying courage and sense of adventure. Impulsive and enterprising, you may move on to a new relationship level with someone you have been interested in. This shift of signs and nakshatras also sees Jupiter moving through the Gandanta zone, the unstable boundary between fire and water signs, where it remains through its present stay in Leo. You may find a fated quality at this ‘knot-end’ point, where competing energies clash and your intentions turn over in an unexpected and transformative way. You can use this transit consciously to clear unwanted entanglements, but the process requires discernment.
Jupiter’s motion has been swift through 2026 so far, but it gradually slows down and then shifts into retrograde motion on December 13th. This is a pivotal point in this transit, where you take stock and capitalize on your good fortune. An offer which arrived earlier in the year may come around again for review, and this time you are ready to do the necessary and jump aboard. You change direction and take a different approach to a long-range study or travel plan, and have a preview of the remaining transit in Leo to come after June 25th 2027.
From December 16th to January 15th, Jupiter casts its light on to the Sun, and the two giant planets also exchange signs. This is a favourable moment for your ambition and executive ability, where you find enhanced power and learn to take charge. Opportunity may come from somebody in authority who gives you trust, and you lead with a mixture of optimism and forward-thinking.
